AKD profinet absolute homing
Is there an easy way to do an absolute homing with a Profinet master on a limit switch, without using FB1.OFFSET and DRV.NVSAVE, as that makes quite an heavy process for an homing. Like using home mode 1, (find limit input) and then directly using mode 13 Absolute mode.
Thanks for this answer, I want to use the motor as an absolute encoder but I also want to add the option to do an homing in case of a motor/mechanical change. So homing mode 17 would be perfect for me, but I can't find this option in the drive? I am using firmware 1.14.
A multi-turn absolute feedback device does not necessarily need to be homed. You can set the offset and never home it again. Or you can home it each time the drive boots up. It's your choice. Homing mode 13 was created before the AKD would not require homing for a multi-turn absolute encoder, and is no longer needed. If you want to home to a home switch or limit switch, you can do so just as with other feedback devices. If you want to use the absolute data of the multi-turn encoder, you should use the FB1.OFFSET parameter. Homing mode 17 will automatically calculate the value for FB1.OFFSET and save it to NV memory. Homing mode 17 need only be used for establishing a home or machine alignment one time. Subsequent power-ups do not need homing, unless the mechanics have moved relative to the motor shaft.
